Field Trips
Students can attend approved educational field trips during the school day only with written parent permission. Parents driving on field trips must follow safety guidelines including no smoking, no talking on car phones, not allowing disruptive behavior and securing all passengers in seatbelts. In addition, drivers must fill out and turn in a Voluntary Driver form showing proof of current insurance coverage.
Cumulative Records
Cumulative records are kept in the office. Cumulative records contain health data, registration materials, copies of test scores and report cards. Parents are welcome to review their child's cumulative record by contacting the school office to make an appointment with the principal.
Prestwood Bulletin
The bulletin will be distributed to the youngest student in the family to be taken home. Please encourage your child to accept the responsibility of delivering the bulletin to you. If you do not receive a copy, you can pick one up in the school office. Please look for bulletins and/or fliers on Thursdays or earlier.
Lunch or Forgotten Items
Lunches or other forgotten items which parents bring to school after classes have started are to be left at the front office. Please make certain items are clearly marked with your child's name. Do not take items directly to the classroom. The office will make sure the student receives the items. Organization and responsibility are two important Life Skills we stress at Prestwood School. Practice of these Life Skills will reduce the amount of "forgotten items".
Library Information
Prestwood students use the school library regularly. Each classroom makes a scheduled weekly visit to have stories read to them, learn library skills through a variety of activities and to do research.
Kindergarten students keep the books in their classroom to share. First graders can check out one book at a time, second graders - two books; third, fourth and fifth graders can check out three books. All books are due one week later. If a child needs more time, he/she should renew the book. We gladly refund money, at any time, for a lost book that is returned.
Prestwood parents are encouraged to use the library and can check out five books per child using the parent's last name and child's room number.
Lost and Found Items
Lost and found items are outside the nurse's office. Please check and remind your child to check for lost items, and please write names on articles of clothing worn to school. Clothing labeled with students' names are returned to students. All unclaimed items are donated to charity.
